# Extensions

Extensions in Document360 connect your knowledge base to the tools your team and customers already use - helpdesks, collaboration platforms, automation tools, and translation services. Instead of switching between tabs to find and share content, extensions bring your knowledge base directly into your existing workflows.

Without extensions, your knowledge base and your other tools operate in silos. Support agents have to leave their helpdesk to search for articles. Teams using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams or Drift have no direct access to documentation. Content that needs translation has to be exported and managed manually. Extensions remove these friction points by creating a live connection between Document360 and the platforms your team relies on every day.

Each extension is purpose-built for a specific platform and takes only a few minutes to set up. Extensions are configured from **Connections** (<span class="fa-regular fa-grid-2-plus"></span>) > **Extensions** (<span class="fa-light fa-puzzle-piece"></span>) in the left navigation bar of the Knowledge base portal. Once connected, the extension appears in the **Connected extensions** section at the top of the page and is ready to use.

## Best practices

- Connect only the extensions your team actively uses. Each active extension generates a token that adds a connection point to your project — keep the connected extensions list clean and relevant.
- Only Admins or Owners should configure extensions. Since extensions use a shared project-level token, restrict access to team members who understand the implications of connecting external platforms.
- Test each extension in a staging or test project before connecting it to your production knowledge base, particularly for automation tools like Zapier and Make where misconfigured triggers can create or modify content unintentionally.
- Review connected extensions periodically. If a tool is no longer in use, disconnect it to reduce unnecessary access points and keep your integrations list manageable.
