You can directly import article content into your knowledge base from word files with the .docx extension.

.docx files

Only Word files with the .docx extension are supported. Other Word file formats are not supported. The .docx file size should be less than 15MB


How will you import Word files?

Click on the •••(More) icon next to a category or subcategory name in the Category manager (left navigation pane) and select Import articles

Import as a single article

  1. Click on the Import articles option and select your .docx source document

  2. Once you click on it, the file manager of your local storage will open

  3. Select the source document you want to import from and click Open in your local file manager window

Click Replace if you need to replace the selected article

  1. By default, the Single article section is selected

  2. The Article title would be populated based on the chosen document name. However, you can change it

  3. In the Category location field, select the desired category or subcategory where you want your article to be imported

  4. Click the Drive location field and select the desired Drive folder for the image assets in the Word document

The images in the Word document would be uploaded as individual files in the selected folder on the Drive.

  1. Once done, click on Import, and Article imported successfully message will be displayed in the window

  2. Click Done

  3. The external hyperlinks would automatically be converted into the article. The images would be uploaded to the selected Drive folder and inserted in the article

Now team accounts can review the imported article before publishing it.

Import multiple articles

  1. Click on the Import articles button and select your .docx source document (MS Word, Google Docs, Confluence, Dropbox Paper)

  2. Once you click on it, the file manager of your local storage will open

  3. Select the source document you want to import from and click Open

Click Replace if you need to replace the selected article

  1. Select the Multiple articles section

This option would create multiple articles by splitting the contents of the source document based on headings (H1, H2, H3, H4)

  1. Click the Drive location field and select the desired Drive folder for the image assets in the Word document

The images in the Word document would be uploaded as individual files in the selected folder on the Drive.

  1. Select the different Heading ‘H’ tags you want to use to split the articles

  2. Click Proceed, and all the splitted articles will be listed

  3. You can change the category location for each different article

  4. To delete a specific article, check the box and click the Delete icon. Click Yes in the Delete confirmation prompt

  5. You can preview each document by hovering over the mouse pointer and clicking on the preview (👁) icon

  6. Once done, click on Import, and an Articles imported successfully message will be displayed in the window

  7. Click Done

  8. The external hyperlinks would automatically be converted into the article. The images would be uploaded to the selected Drive folder and inserted in the article
