Mapping an existing SSO configuration to other projects

Prev Next

If you manage multiple Document360 projects under the same account, you can reuse an existing SSO configuration (SAML or OpenID Connect) across those projects instead of setting up a new one from scratch. This is done by selecting the existing connection from the Configure an existing connection dropdown during the SSO setup flow in the target project. Reusing a configuration keeps your identity provider settings consistent and avoids duplicating work across projects.

When to use this

Use this when you want to:

  • Apply the same SSO configuration to a Sandbox project that your Production project already uses.
  • Extend SSO access to a new project without reconfiguring your Identity Provider.
  • Keep multiple projects aligned under the same IdP and protocol settings.

Before you begin

  • You must have an existing SSO configuration (SAML or OpenID Connect) already set up on at least one project in your account.
  • You must have the Owner or Admin role on the target project where you want to map the configuration.
  • The new configuration must use the same Identity Provider and the same SSO protocol (SAML or OpenID Connect) as the existing configuration.

How to map an existing SSO configuration to another project

  1. Log in to your Document360 account and navigate to the project where you want to apply the existing SSO configuration.
  2. Navigate to Settings () in the left navigation bar of the Knowledge base portal.
  3. In the left navigation pane, go to Users & permissions > SSO Configuration.
  4. Click Create SSO.
  5. On the Choose your Identity Provider (IdP) page, select the same Identity Provider used in your existing SSO configuration.
NOTE

The Identity Provider selected here must match the Identity Provider used in the existing SSO configuration you want to reuse.

  1. On the Configure the Service Provider (SP) page, select either SAML or OpenID to match your existing configuration, then click Next.
NOTE

The SSO protocol selected here must match the protocol of the existing SSO configuration. You cannot map a SAML configuration to an OpenID setup, or vice versa.

  1. In the Configure an existing connection (Optional) dropdown, select the existing SSO configuration you want to reuse, then click Next.

  1. Complete the remaining fields on the More settings page and click Create.

The new SSO configuration is created for the target project based on the existing connection you selected.

Best practices

  • Always verify that the target project uses the same Identity Provider and protocol before starting this process. Mismatches will prevent you from selecting the existing configuration in the dropdown.
  • After mapping the configuration, add SSO users to the target project separately. Mapping the configuration does not automatically carry over user assignments from the original project.
  • If you are extending SSO to a Sandbox project, test the login flow with at least one SSO user before communicating access to the wider team.
