Use the Knowledge base portal to build, organize, and publish your documentation. Everything you create or configure here shapes the Knowledge base site your readers see. This article shows you where each tool lives, so you can go straight to the task you have in mind.
Start here - Layout
Find your way around the portal
The portal has three fixed zones. The top and left navigation bars stay in place whichever module you open, so you can always get back to where you need to be.
Top navigation bar
Runs across the top of every page. Use it to switch projects, workspaces, and languages, create content, search the portal, open your live site, and get help.
Left navigation bar
Runs along the left edge. Select an icon to open that module. Expand the bar to see each module's name next to its icon.
Content area
Fills the center of the screen. The module you select loads here, whether that is the article editor, a dashboard, or a settings page.
Navigate - Top bar
Switch, create, and search from the top navigation bar
Use the top navigation bar for actions you need from anywhere in the portal, without leaving the page you are on.
Switch to another project, workspace, or language from one dropdown. A Main badge marks the primary workspace and a Default badge marks the default language. Select Manage projects or Manage Workspace & language at the bottom of the dropdown to change them.
Select your profile picture to update your profile, view your access and permissions, switch to the dark theme, change your password, or log out.
Maintenance banner
Plan around scheduled maintenance. The banner appears before maintenance starts, and you also get an email. While maintenance runs, you cannot open, create, or edit content.
Navigate - Modules
Open a module from the left navigation bar
Each icon in the left navigation bar opens a module in the content area. Pick the module that matches what you want to do.
Select the project, workspace, and language dropdown in the top navigation bar, expand the workspace you want, and select the language.
My navigation looks different from this article. Why?
The redesigned top and left navigation bars are being rolled out in phases. If you do not see the combined project, workspace, and language dropdown yet, it will be available in your project soon.
Where do I manage users and permissions?
Select Settings in the left navigation bar, then go to Users & permissions. Read General project settings.
